Abstract
Handwritten letter from Fred C. Bryan, inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, stating that someone has complained about his letter-writing and he believes this may be the matron [Louisa Hammond] or the librarian. He explains that he only writes to his family, Miss Matthias and Miss Reid, and claims that the matron resents him because she courted him and asked him to marry her, which he refused. He asks Trask to protect him against malicious accusations.
