Abstract

Handwritten letter from Mary J. Daley, of New London, Connecticut, to the superintendent of Sailors’ Snug Harbor, regarding John Daley. She asks whether John Daley, who was a sailor in the United States Navy, lived at the Harbor, as they believe he is dead, having not heard from him in 21 years. Daley's daughter and wife hope to hear any information about him. Received while Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask was the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor. [Cataloger's note: John Daily was an inmate in the Harbor and an alternate spelling of his name is on his death certificate in our files as "Daley". It is unclear whether this is the same person as the John Daley in this letter.]
