Abstract

Handwritten letter from Alexander Hodge, inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, giving a list of fellow Harbor inmates who can witness to Hodge's character: Captain [Peter A.] Spearwater, Ben [Benjamin] F.  Taylor, James W. Blagden, Jessie Rayon [sic?], and Murdock McDougall [sic]. He states that these inmates have known him since he arrived and are willing to testify to what they know.
