Abstract

Handwritten letter from Captain Joseph Perkins, of the Seamen's Fund and Retreat, to Captain Thomas Melville, regarding the bearer, Captain Samuel P. Gerts, who would like admittance to Sailors' Snug Harbor. He asks Melville's assistance while Captain Cobb is away and states that Captain [Joshua] Safford, an inmate at the Harbor, is acquainted with Gerts.
