Handwritten letter from "Farrin" [Louis Farren/Farrien?], regarding a possible extension of his leave until Monday, [December 2nd]. Farrinstates he saw some friends he did not expect to see and learned that one of them was dying, and he wishes to see him before returning to the Harbor. 

Received while Captain Thomas Melville was governor of Sailors’ Snug Harbor.
