Abstract
Handwritten letter from John Stacey, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, regarding a situation where he has been asked to be a watchmen for a ship owned by a Captain Willey and Captain Duckshier [sp?]. Stacey states that he knows the captains and was personally asked to watch over their ship, and asks permission to do so as it is one of only a few opportunities for him to make money each year. Stacey also asks if he could be allowed to go to New York every once and awhile without need for a liberty.
