Abstract
Handwritten letter from J. [John] C. Bixby, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, requesting permission work in the city. Bixby states he is a well respected man both in and outside the Harbor, and his behavior is exemplary. Bixby states the reason he works is to support his invalid wife, and is willing to prove it if needed.
