Title page and first eleven pages from hand written diary that includes textual entries, drawings, poems, and postage stamps. Original bound volume contains entries on approximately 100 pages. 

Cecil Pinckney Northrop was a 1922 graduate of the New York State Nautical School (now SUNY Maritime College). He worked as fourth officer on a freighter from 1922-1923 and from 1923-27 as a third and then second officer aboard Dollar Line's S.S. President Hayes "Round the World" cruises.
