Handwritten letter from Alex Hamilton Jr., requesting information on his Uncle, a man named Captain Samuel Gillingham. Hamilton states he last heard of him 17 years ago when he was running a steamer between New Orleans and Alexandria, Egypt. Hamilton is wondering if he had stayed at the Harbor.

Received while Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask was governor of Sailors’ Snug Harbor.
