Abstract
Handwritten letter from Samuel H. Hall, of the American Seamen's Friend Society, to Captain Thomas Melville, regarding former inmate Richard Rosseau [Rousseau]. Hall acknowledges that Rousseau abused his privileges and left the harbor, "only to fall under his old tempter." Hall asks Melville to readmit Rousseau, so that he can be in a situation where he has restraints, "[f]or his poor mother's sake and for the sake of his Father, Gen. Rousseau of Kentucky, who gave his life for his Country..."
