Abstract
Handwritten letter from Cynthia J. Clough, of Somerville, Massachusetts, to Captain Thomas Melville, regarding a letter she previously wrote to him regarding a watch belonging to Joseph H. Wade. She has not received the watch, which she intends to give to Wade's youngest daughter, but her sister received a letter from a Leonard Gay, at Snug Harbor, stating that the watch had been sent to Mrs. B. F. Clough. The watch has not been received and Clough would like Melville to ask the "Rev. Mr. Jones" [Charles F. Jones, Sailors' Snug Harbor chaplain?] or Mr. E. S. [E. J.?] Cunningham, Superintendent of the Staten Island Horse Railroad, if they know more about the matter. She also mentions Captain [Ambrose] Snow, Captain Samuel Watts, and Captain Harris Stackpole.
