Abstract
Handwritten letter from Rev. Dr. James Mulchahey, to Sailors' Snug Harbor, requesting information about inmate William Campbell, a parishioner of St. Paul's Chapel and a member of St. Paul's Working Men's Club. He believes Campbell was admitted to Sailors' Snug Harbor and then to an insane asylum. Mulchahey is seeking the information as Campbell's wife is entitled to draw a weekly sum if he is permanently disabled. Rev. Mulchahey has been referred to Sailors' Snug Harbor by Dr. Dix. [Cataloger's note: Mulchahey is referring to Rev. Dr. Morgan Dix, Rector of St. Paul's Chapel from 1862-1906.] This appears to be the prompt for the notes in SC-0016-III-A-1-0163. Received while Captain Thomas Melville was the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor.
