Handwritten letter from J. H. Miles, engineer at Sailors' Snug Harbor, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, regarding an incident with the water closet at the baker's house, which was stopped up and had burst pipes. He explains that his son had reported the incident to him but that he was in the city when an order from Trask arrived. He acknowledges that both Henrietta and Lizzie Mathias had reported it to him but that he had said he could not do anything until he had received Trask's order to do so.
